DHS - Mutant Division
Standard Equipment: Kevlar Vest
Standard STRIKE Armor
Kevlar Vest: Resistant Protection (6 PD/6 ED) (18 Active Points); Requires A Roll (11- roll; -1/2), OIF (-1/2), Ablative BODY Only (-1/2), Real Armor (-1/4)
Real Cost: 6 Points
Requires A Roll (11-): This simply indicates whether the attack hit the armor or not.
Ablative: When the armor stops more than 6 BODY in a single attack, it acquires an additional activation roll of 15- to represent damage to the armor which has weakened it. Each time the armor again stops 6 BODY of damage, the roll is reduced by one (to 14-, 13-, 12-) until it reaches 8-. Any additional damage renders the armor completely ineffective.
A standard-issue kevlar vest as used by police and military forces all over the world. Typically worn over clothing, but can be worn beneath jackets or coats for partial concealment. The Ablative limitation represents the fact that as the Kevlar fibers absorb impacts (typically from gunfire), they are damaged and become less effective. A vest which has actually taken fire is generally replaced as soon as practicable.
